The Bon Fromage Festival is back from 31 May to 2 June 2024 and it promises to be a haven for cheese lovers and culinary adventurers alike. Transforming the Overseas Passenger Terminal into a bustling paradise of French cheese and culture, this year’s theme, ‘366 days of French cheese across days and seasons’, offers a glimpse into the diversity and richness of French cheesemaking.

But Bon Fromage is not just about indulgence; it’s also an educational journey. Cheese enthusiasts can deepen their understanding through a series of free masterclasses and cooking demonstrations led by renowned experts like Aurore Ghigo and Victoria Lush. Learn the nuances of cheese cutting, the geographical influences on flavours, and how to perfectly pair cheese with other foods and beverages.

Sharing knowledge and appreciation of French cheeses

The festival is supported by CNIEL (the French National Dairy Interbranch Organization) and the European Union, and underscores a commitment to sharing the artistry and variety of French cheeses with Australians. Since its inception in 2016, the festival has aimed to broaden the knowledge and appreciation of French cheeses among Australian consumers, offering an immersive experience that goes beyond mere tasting.

The sensory journey doesn’t stop with cheese. The festival’s entertainment line-up is as rich and varied as the cheeses on offer. Picture yourself sampling a creamy Brie or a tangy Roquefort while being serenaded by the elegant strains of a solo violinist, grooving to a lively jazz band, or dancing the night away to beats from a dynamic DJ. This melodic blend of sounds creates the perfect ambience for a festival where flavour meets rhythm.

Whether you’re a seasoned cheese aficionado or a curious newcomer, this Bon Fromage offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of French cheese.
