The ever-popular $25 pasta series at Menzies Bar is back by popular demand, starting on Monday 21 August. Known as ‘The Hits’, the first time the 12-week pasta series was launched, it featured different pasta specials each week. Now it’s back with 11 new dishes.
Culinary Director Joel Bickford and his team have curated the new series, featuring classic pasta dishes that will be available all day in Menzies Bar, Monday through Saturday. The good news is, the new 12-week menu roster will mark the start of the $25 pasta special becoming a permanent fixture on the Menzies menu.
“We’ve been blown away by the interest in our special, the pick up has been incredible and a true representation of what Sydneysiders were after in the CBD. It has really connected everyone to the Menzies as their centre of gravity in the city, either day or night, and opened up the Menzies to those looking for affordable, delicious and quality, handmade pasta,” says restaurateur Brett Robinson.
“Just like our Martini Hour that Menzies has become famous for ($10 martinis & Lobster rolls), we want The Hits to become a part of the fabric of the venue,” adds Brett.
The 12-week menu includes dishes such as crab & macaroni gratin; taglioni with cuttlefish, chilli, squid ink, nettle; wild mushroom, mafaldine, black truffle; fregola puttanesca, smoked ricotta; a lasagne; beetroot pappardelle, duck, mushroom, smoked cream; and bucatini cacio e pepe.
During the inaugural pasta series, the team hand-rolled over 4,000 raviolios in the first week. “It was a labour of love. It’s fair to say in round two, it’s going to be the biggest seller again. With crab and macaroni gratin, and lasagne, there are a lot more bell ringers in this round! Plus some new classics,” says Joel.
