Giesen Pure Light has just released a Sauvignon Blanc and a Pinot Gris with 50 per cent less alcohol* without compromising on flavour, just in time for the summer festivities.
According to Wine Intelligence, 46 per cent of Australian wine drinkers are looking to reduce their alcohol intake. To meet this demand, Giesen has pioneered producing lower alcohol wine, using a $1 million in-house spinning cone – technology used to gently remove alcohol. With three years of experience crafting the popular Giesen zero per cent range, the winemaking team are pioneering quality options in this space. Experience and know-how have enabled them to reduce the alcohol in the Pure Light range without compromising on flavour or aroma.
Pure Light 6% New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc
Crisp and refreshing, expect pure tropical fruit and citrus flavours with nuances of freshly cut herbs from this wonderfully balanced, lighter-in-alcohol New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Only 48 calories per serving and 1.6g of sugar per 125ml glass.
Pure Light 6% New Zealand Pinot Gris
Delicate pear blossom aromatics with sweet spice. The palate is light yet textural, with flavours of quince paste and papaya. This lighter-in-alcohol Pinot Gris finishes fresh with balanced sweetness. Only 49 calories per serving and 1.9g of sugar per 125ml glass.
Chief Winemaker, Duncan Shouler says, “This is an exciting evolution for our Pure Light range, which we have been making for several years at 9% alcohol/volume. We’re doing things differently though. The wines are first crafted as classic New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris, going through the same process as we make our full-strength wines. We then use our advanced spinning cone technology to delicately remove alcohol down to 6% alc./vol., leaving us with lower alcohol but maximum flavour. Many would fail to even know that the wine is lighter-in-alcohol given the aroma and palate are so similar – bursting with flavour Pure Light offers a distinctive Sauvignon Blanc and an aromatic Pinot Gris from New Zealand.”
