Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards have released their Top 10 wine lists for New South Wales, marking the first time in the awards’ 32-year history that rankings have been broken down by state. The list is revealed at a time when many diners are planning end-of-year lunches, festive dinners and summer catch-ups.

Claiming the top spot for NSW is Bennelong, which was named Best Wine List in the state. The wine program was recognised for its breadth and balance, offering depth without losing sight of how the wines sit alongside the menu and the dining experience. It also reflects the people who have shaped it over time.
Bennelong leads a strong NSW group that includes Aria, Bentley, Bert’s, Jonah’s, Mimi’s, Mr Wong, Shell House, Where’s Nick and Woodcut. Across the list, there is a clear sense of variety, from Sydney dining institutions to newer, more relaxed venues, each with a wine offering built around its food and setting.
The awards are judged by a panel of more than 35 wine professionals from Australia and overseas, including Master Sommeliers, Masters of Wine, writers and show judges. Each wine list is reviewed independently before being ranked by the full panel, with assessments based on content, balance, presentation, pricing and suitability to the venue.
While Melbourne venue Circl took out the national title this year, the NSW results underline the strength of the state’s dining scene and its ongoing commitment to serious, carefully curated wine programs.
For diners, the list offers a reliable guide to restaurants where wine is clearly treated as part of the meal.
