Enhance your appreciation for Veneto’s rich winemaking heritage with a Masterclass at Bar Conte in Surry Hills on Monday, 27 May. The evening includes a culinary journey – a thoughtfully curated 5-course set menu – alongside a captivating tour of flavours from the Italian Veneto region.

Priced at $179 per person, you’ll experience an evening of gastronomic fun as Chef and Owner Steven De Vecchi presents his favourite childhood dishes.

The wine Masterclass is led by esteemed sommelier and Italian wine importer Aldo di Filippo, in collaboration with Single Vineyard Seller. Discover the prestigious and influential names of Veneto winemaking, including Nino Franco and Roberto Anselmi.

This is the first dinner of the series at Bar Conte. The venue will look to host a new masterclass every four to six weeks, highlighting a new region in Italy.

Menu highlights include:

  • Sarde in saor on white grilled polenta – ‘Typical Cicchetto that defines the taste of Venice, Sardines in an agrodolce onion, pine nuts and sultanas sauce’. Enjoyed with NV Nino Franco Prosecco Brut.
  • Warm Octopus and potatoes salad – ‘Recipe inspired by a technique used by Mirella at Alla Vedova in Cannaregio,
    Venice. The version here is based on the dish that she serves at her charming Osteria’. Enjoyed with a 2021 Anselmi Capital Croce (Garganega).
  • Salame al cioccolato with whipped cream – ‘The name comes from the appearance of this chocolate and nut sausage that looks like a salame, normally served with caffe’ at the end of the meal’. Enjoyed with a 2021 Nino Franco Dry.
