This year, Carriageworks joins forces with Finely Tuned to launch THE WORKS (29 December–16 January), a major new addition to Sydney’s summer music scene. Set inside the venue’s cavernous Bays 22–24, it promises an immersive warehouse experience featuring some of the world’s biggest electronic acts – from Underworld, Ben Böhmer and Chris Stussy, to CamelPhat, Ross From Friends, I Hate Models, VTSS, and more. The series cements Carriageworks’ growing reputation as one of the city’s premier live music destinations, with Peggy Gou set to keep the momentum going on 31 January.
The action extends far beyond the dancefloor with Hamlet Camp, written by and starring Brendan Cowell, Ewen Leslie and Toby Schmitz, bringing a chaotic and clever twist to Shakespeare’s most famous role. The play imagines its protagonists trapped in a surreal rehab for actors who’ve played Hamlet – a darkly funny and heartfelt exploration of obsession, ego and craft, running 7–25 January.

Carriageworks will also spotlight some of the country’s most exciting choreographers and dancers. NAISDA Dance College presents echoing the future (20–22 November), a powerful new work led by Māori choreographer Charles Koroneho, blending song, dance and stories from Aotearoa and North East Arnhem Land. Sydney Dance Company returns with New Breed (3–13 December), showcasing four world premieres from emerging Australian choreographers.
Families can step into the Australian bush this summer with Creature by Box of Birds/Stalker Theatre (13 December–10 January). The free, interactive experience combines projection, light and storytelling to create a 360-degree world of kangaroos, wombats and native wildlife that respond to movement and sound.
Movement takes centre stage throughout the season with Summer Moves, a free dance and wellness program inviting Sydneysiders to join in. Highlights include a NAISDA-led workshop exploring Arnhem Island rhythms (22 November), and high-energy global dance sessions with DUTI Studios (17 & 31 January), spanning African dance, reggaeton and Brazilian funk.
The much-loved Roller Disco returns on 13 December, where RollerFit will host an all-ages skating session before the floor flips to an adults-only disco later that night. And on 10 and 24 January, Rhythm Social will take over the mornings with vinyl sessions spinning Afrobeat, Latin soul, and Caribbean grooves.
Across the precinct, creativity will thrive in all its forms. Contemporary Asian Australian Performance (CAAP) presents its Works In Progress showcase (13 November), offering a glimpse into bold new works from five emerging artists.
In the lead-up to the festive season, Carriageworks will also become a hub for design, art and community. The Affordable Art Fair (6–9 November) arrives for its biggest Sydney edition yet, featuring thousands of original works starting at $100. The Finders Keepers Market (14–16 November) returns with top Australian designers, while the Second Life Markets (2 November & 21 December) champion Sydney’s best vintage curators. The Christmas Latin Makers Market (22–23 November) will bring a splash of Latin flair to the holidays, and the Carriageworks Christmas Market (20 December) will wrap up the year with over 100 stalls for festive feasting and gifting.
Meanwhile, the Carriageworks Farmers Market continues every Saturday, connecting NSW growers and food lovers. Looking ahead, Sydney Festival will return to the precinct in January with another unmissable program, details of which are still to come.
