Sydney’s historic Rocks precinct has a new drawcard for food and wine lovers, bringing a taste of the Barossa to the city. The newly launched Château Tanunda x Tayim Progressive Dinner Series offers an intimate night that blends Barossa Valley winemaking heritage with the bold, aromatic flavours of Middle Eastern cuisine.
Each month, a small group of just ten guests gather at Château Tanunda’s Sydney Cellar Door to begin the evening with a guided tasting of new vintage releases, including selections from the winery’s celebrated Old Vine Expressions collection. It’s an opportunity to explore the craftsmanship behind one of Australia’s most storied wine houses before crossing the sandstone laneway to Tayim for a three-course Chef’s Table experience.

The dinner, designed in collaboration with Château Tanunda, pairs each dish to the wines just tasted, creating a seamless progression from grape to glass to plate. Tayim’s kitchen takes inspiration from the Levant, with a menu that balances modern technique and ancient culinary roots. The result is a thoughtful match between two worlds: Barossa depth and Middle Eastern vibrancy.

The series runs once a month from 5.30pm, offering an experience that suits both seasoned wine enthusiasts and those simply looking for something new to try in Sydney’s dining scene. At $195 per person (with the option to add a cheese plate for $22), it’s a chance to indulge, learn, and connect over good food, great wine, and even better conversation. Guests can also purchase Château Tanunda wines at special pricing on the night.
Since opening its Sydney Cellar Door in 2021, Château Tanunda has been giving locals and visitors a direct line to the Barossa. Its tasting experiences range from approachable introductions for curious newcomers to deep-dives for connoisseurs.
The Introduction to Wine Experience ($20pp) offers an engaging walk-through of winemaking basics, while the Hosted Barossa Discovery Tasting ($40pp) unpacks the region’s defining grape varieties and stories. For something special, the Old Vine Expressions Tasting ($70pp) explores wines crafted from vines up to 150 years old - living relics of Barossa history.
The Château Tanunda x Tayim Progressive Dinner Series will run on select Thursdays: 13 November and 11 December 2025, then 12 February and 12 March 2026.
