Yirranma Place in Darlinghurst is gearing up for a Community Open Day on Saturday 29 November, offering locals a rare chance to step inside the precinct and see the purpose-driven work happening behind its heritage walls.
From 10am to midday, the building will come alive with food, music, workshops and a showcase of the organisations that share the space.
Set on Gadigal land, the former church has been transformed into a hub for social impact, supporting groups such as Two Good Co., Burraga Foundation, Equality Australia, Youth Action, NCOSS, and Global Sisters. Each plays a different role in driving change, and the open day is designed to bring their work into the spotlight in a relaxed, community-minded setting.

Two Good Co.’s café anchors the precinct, with the team describing the café as a place that welcomes people in with warmth and gives them space to reconnect with themselves and others. That idea will shape the day’s program. The café will turn into a living installation of Hospitality Heals, complete with portraits by Jess Lindsay honouring women from the Work Work program, who are rebuilding their lives through employment in the kitchen.
Visitors can drop by for a free bake sale stacked with honey cake, red velvet and confetti slices, plus treats from recipes contributed to Sweet Memories, Two Good’s new four-part cookbook series. There will be gluten-free berry-mallow shortcake and vegan chocolate cookies, to heritage shortbread passed down through generations. The rooftop will host a few special collaborations, including Tilly Dogs from Love, Tilly Devine, tiramisu from Ciao Fabbrica and small-batch flavours from Elato Gelato.
Inside, the Social Enterprise Market Hall will feature a mix of impact-focused makers and producers. Aunty’s Ginger Tonic will pour its Sierra Leone–inspired brews; MOOD Tea will share blends that fund youth mental health initiatives; and Indigiearth will showcase native ingredients from chef and trailblazer Sharon Windsor. Visitors will also find Elato Gelato’s sustainably minded treats, Vitenje’s colourful lifestyle pieces, Goods for Good’s ethical gifts and ReLove’s homewares supporting people transitioning out of crisis. Two Good Co. will run a Christmas catering stall where guests can build their own festive boxes filled with everything from glazed ham and prawns to gingerbread and handmade preserves.
The precinct’s restored heritage organ will sound again for the first time since its refurbishment. Guests can also join self-guided audio stories, settle into the ReLove Lounge or listen in on conversations with resident organisations and community partners.
Kids’ activities will run throughout the morning, including a bauble-decorating station supporting Twenty10, a giant Christmas tree in Blue Gum Hall, creative workshops, face painting, yoga and clay play. Roving performers will keep the energy up.
The Two Good team often talk about the way food and care go hand-in-hand in their work, and how the simple act of preparing a meal can help rebuild confidence. The open day extends that idea to the whole precinct, opening the doors so the community can see the people and stories behind the programs.
