To celebrate International Women’s Day, Trippas White Group has announced ‘Danielle, Louella, and the Revolution’ — a special gathering at the Sydney Opera House featuring trailblazing women in the fields of wine and hospitality.

Notable participants include acclaimed chef and culinary director of the Opera House’s event venues, Danielle Alvarez, and TWG’s group sommelier, Louella Mathews.

The event is scheduled for 8 March in the Opera House’s Yallamundi Rooms. Proceeds from the $89 per person ticket will be donated to the not-for-profit charity Women and Revolution. This organisation aims to overcome gender equality barriers in the wine world, connecting women across the industry through coaching and education platforms.

Guests at the event will have the opportunity to sample wines from 16 female winemakers across Australia. Additionally, they can indulge in grazing boards curated by Danielle Alvarez, featuring Australian dairy products from Burraduc Buffalo Dairy. Each attendee will receive a Plumm wine glass and tasting card, allowing them to sample up to ten different producers. An additional tasting card can be purchased for $50.

Sommelier Louella Mathews will host the event, conducting interviews with the numerous female winemakers present. These interviews will delve into themes and ideas important to women, addressing topics such as navigating a male-dominated industry and overcoming structural and cultural barriers in the workplace.

Australian female wine producers attending the event include:

Danielle Alvarez will create three grazing stations of cheese and antipasto of Pynegana cheddar, Holy Goat La Luna, Section 28 Montforte, Milawa aged blue, crackers as well as smoked mortadella, saucisson sec, salami cotto, prosciutto wrapped grissini, eggplant caponata, and a canape of short rib empanada with mushroom ketchup.
