Dee Why Hotel has revealed a $3 million transformation, introducing three distinct new spaces: Mr B’s sports bar, Jade’s greenhouse-inspired bistro and a refreshed main bar.

Mr B’s is a reimagining of the pub’s original 90s sports bar, now boasting the largest TV sports wall on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. The 10-metre screen dominates the room, giving locals a front-row seat to every match. Retro prints, sports memorabilia and geometric patterns tie the new look back to the venue’s past, while raised booths and high tables deliver a luxe viewing experience.

Next door, the greenhouse-inspired bistro called Jade’s features a relaxed colour palette of eucalyptus green, turmeric, mustard and soft pink. By day it serves as a light-filled bistro, then by night it becomes a private event space thanks to custom sliding steel-framed doors. The design blends earthy tones with natural timbers and soft textures, creating a space that feels both modern and nostalgic.

The main bar has also been completely redesigned, with baby-blue and brown polka-dot carpet, glossy terracotta and chocolate tiles. Brass fittings and soft pink accents bring art-deco charm, while a bespoke timber and brass back bar display anchors the room.

Run by the Bayfield family since 1977, the renovation pays tribute to founder Neville Bayfield. A house-brewed ‘Nev’s Lager’ crafted with 4 Pines and a cocktail dubbed ‘Nev’s Negroni’ honour his legacy.

The food menu continues to deliver the Northern Beaches’ much-loved burgers including the Double Smash and the Famous Tufflenator, but has expanded to include char-grilled skewers, stone-baked pizzas and pub classics elevated with fresh, seasonal touches. Daily specials remain a drawcard for locals.

Cocktails have been overhauled to match the new spaces. Highlights include Jade’s with gin, white peach, apple and mint, and The Glider Room, a bourbon-led mix with honey, pomegranate and bitters.

Kaine Bayfield, Chief Operating Officer and grandson of Neville, says the renovation reflects the pub’s evolving community while staying true to its roots. The goal was to create spaces that welcome both long-time locals and new visitors.

The Bayfield Hotel Group continues to operate the Dee Why Hotel alongside The Belrose Hotel, Bayfield’s Liquor Superstore and Bayfield’s online, adding this new chapter to their long history on the Northern Beaches.
