Fiano, a lively white wine from Southern Italy’s Campania region, brings the bright, fresh flavours of a European summer straight to your glass. In Australia, Oliver’s Taranga has been crafting its own take on this classic grape, and the 2025 McLaren Vale release is already making waves.

Wine lovers are leaning towards wines that are vibrant and full of flavour, and Fiano fits the bill. Corrina Wright, a sixth-generation vigneron and the driving force behind Oliver’s Taranga, has been nurturing Fiano for two decades. She sees it as a historic Italian grape that’s thriving in Australian conditions, bringing both character and excitement to the glass.

Interest in Fiano is soaring. More than 70 Australian wineries are now producing it, and Wine Australia reports an 86 per cent growth in tonnes crushed compared to last year, making Australia home to the largest Fiano plantings outside Italy.

Fiano is described as being textured and lively, with notes that shift from pine nuts and cashew to kaffir lime, fresh basil, and tropical fruits. It’s versatile on the table, pairing effortlessly with seafood, pasta, and even spicy dishes.

Oliver’s Taranga Fiano has already earned accolades, taking out Best Fiano at the 2024 McLaren Vale Wine Show. Critics have praised its energy and vibrancy, calling it a wine that wakes up the palate and brings joy with every sip.

Check out Fiano Fridays and the first-ever Fiano Day on 17th October, where wineries across the country will showcase special releases and tastings. Follow Oliver’s Taranga on Instagram and Facebook for updates and events.
