Halloscream at Luna Park is billed as 2022’s scariest Halloween event in Sydney. Screaming nightly from 21 to 31 October, this year marks its 10th anniversary.

The fun begins while you wait in line outside the gates with the famous smiley face against the stunning backdrop of Sydney Harbour. Mingling among the guests – many who have dressed for Halloween – are sinister characters whom you may later come across inside the venue.

Gates open at 5 pm and the opening Scaremony performance starts at 6 pm. Expect a fabulous night of horrors including three bloodthirsty mazes and unlimited rides all night.

Halloscream Rides

Thrillseekers can head straight to the new and improved Big Dipper. The world’s first inline seating launch rollercoaster and Australia’s tallest and fastest multi-launch coaster, it will have you screaming as you dip faster, higher and 360 degrees loopier than ever before. This ride is for big kids only, with a height restriction of 132 cm to 192 cm.

Another exciting ride is the aptly named Hair Raiser. Enjoy the amazing harbour views as you are gently raised 50 metres above sea level. Before you know it, your hair will be standing on end and your stomach will lurch as you plummet back to earth at over 80kmph. What happens within a matter of seconds will have you recalling the moment for days, if not weeks later.

There are so many other great rides to enjoy, depending on your age and preferences. Family-friendly rides include the gorgeous Carousel and super fun Dodgem City. Families who want to ride a rollercoaster together can enjoy the Boomerang, Australia’s first G-force G-rated coaster which drops, twists, turns, and does it all again backwards. Little Nipper is another very family-friendly ride where kids can sit right next to accompanying adults. The Ferris wheel and Volare are other crowd favourites.

Can you handle the thrills of the themed horror mazes?
Bloodthirsty Mazes

Three mazes with themes of Grim: The Initiation; DecayMart: Expiration Date and RainDead: Rise of the Replicants will have you screaming, laughing, and then screaming again as you make your way through. You’ll dread what lies around the corner, little suspecting the monster is right behind you.

Coney Island: Film House

For the first time ever, the iconic Coney Island has been transformed into a horror-themed interactive attraction. See if you can identify the classic horror villains who have been unleashed after decades of being trapped in their film canisters. Gather your courage as you go behind the screams and the silver screen to find them running amok inside. Prepare to be the star of your own interactive horror movie!

Halloscream is for young and old

Halloscream is a night of pure fun for young and old. The event is superbly well run, with staff and performers who are committed to ensuring a safe and thoroughly enjoyable night for all. There is a good variety of food and drink offerings, including themed cocktails. Four hours had passed before we knew it, and we left with silly grins on our faces like the big kids that we all are at heart.

Halloscream is recommended for ages 14+. Tickets are only available online, with no walk-up sales at the venue. They are selling fast so jump online to avoid disappointment.
