The team that brought you Saigon Hustle in Western Sydney has introduced a new, exciting, Asian dining establishment in the heart of Sydney’s CBD called Hustlers. Located in an intimate and contemporary underground venue at 24 York Street, Hustlers vibe is reminiscent of a classy secret gambling den, hence the name. Yet, it’s the perfect venue for date night, a group catch-up with friends or family, or a fun girl’s night out.
A good place to start is the extensive cocktail menu. The signature cocktails boast a fun, Asian twist, such as the Ube-B (purple yam), which is a staple flavour found in desserts from the east. It’s like a purple Pina Colada in disguise, with pineapple, coconut, milk and a hint of walnut. The Lady Grey Gin with Aperol, pavan rounded with a lychee tea syrup (reminiscent of lychee jelly cups you had as a kid) is also highly recommended. If you’re dry Julying, the mocktail list is just as enticing.

The talented team at Hustlers has managed to seamlessly fuse the flavours of South-East Asian with fresh, textured dishes such as Hiramasa Kingfish Ceviche with coconut nam jhim and Wagyu Beef Tartare with sesame rice crackers. On a cold winter’s night, there’s nothing more comforting than the signature dish – the Bone Marrow Mi Goreng with garlic oil and fried egg. Yum cha enthusiasts will thoroughly appreciate Hustler’s version of Prawn Toast with trout roe, while seafood fans will want more of the Grilled King Prawn, featuring crispy, deep-fried prawn shells.

The menu is thoughtfully crafted, combining classic favourites with innovative and unexpected flavours, making the culinary journey at Hustlers an enjoyable one. As each dish is placed on the table, you can be forgiven for not wanting to wait and just dive in ahead of everyone else.

The presentation of each dish is immaculate and worthy of an Instagram post. But more importantly, the meals are like unexpected stories, each revealing a mysterious tale through delicious flavours and textures. While the food menu list doesn’t look extensive at first glance, it’s quite deceptive just how much good food is on offer. And of course it’s all about quality, not quantity.

The dessert menu is not to be overlooked, with refreshing Lychee Granita on offer, as well as Vanilla Cheesecake or the ever-popular Filipino dessert, Buko Pandan.
The team at Hustlers are super efficient, friendly, know their stuff and are very happy to help recommend a great range of shared dishes between friends. Expect a good night out.
