Potts Point has welcomed a new addition to its dining scene with the arrival of Le Frérot, the younger sibling to Franca Brasserie. Located on Macleay Street, this Parisian-inspired café and bistro brings the rhythm of all-day dining to the neighbourhood, from early morning coffee to late-night drinks, seven days a week.

While Franca has long been the go-to for celebrations, Le Frérot is built for everyday moments. It’s the perfect location to drop in for a croissant and flat white, linger over a long lunch, or swing by for a casual dinner with friends. The space blends polished design with relaxed warmth, creating an atmosphere that feels effortlessly local yet unmistakably French.

The menu speaks to comfort and craft in equal measure. Mornings kick off with wood-fired tartines, buttery pastries and hearty breakfast plates like Moreton Bay bug benedict or spanner crab omelette. At lunch, light but satisfying options include tuna niçoise or smoked duck salad with pickled beetroot and walnuts.
By evening, Le Frérot shifts gears into a lively bistro. The kitchen, led by Rivage Hospitality’s group executive chef José Saulog, embraces French classics with a playful twist. Guests can enjoy mussels in white wine and kombu butter, roast Wollemi duck breast, Berkshire pork cutlet and Black Angus hanger steak. Each dish is served with endless fries and sauces that encourage sharing. A happy hour ‘burger au poivre’ adds to the charm, available only while it lasts.

Le Frérot marks a new chapter for Rivage Hospitality, led by managing director Andrew Becher, in creating dining experiences that balance sophistication with simplicity. It captures the convivial spirit of Paris while feeling right at home in Potts Point.
