Social media sensation Little Moons has officially arrived in Australia. It launched with three of the brand’s most popular flavours: Vegan Belgian Chocolate & Hazelnut and Vegan Tropical Passionfruit and Mango, Honey Roasted Pistachio, all exclusively available from Woolworths.

Originally from the UK, Little Moons mochi ice cream has had an explosive following since it became a social media phenomenon in 2021. The brand’s beloved mochi ice cream balls feature Little Moons’ signature smooth and creamy gelato ice cream, wrapped in a sweet, soft and chewy mochi dough.

What are Little Moons made from?

These delicious mochi bites are made by wrapping bite-sized balls of creamy artisan gelato ice cream in a layer of soft and delightfully delicate mochi dough. Mochi is from Japan and is a rice flour dough that has been steamed and pounded to give it its distinctive and deliciously soft and chewy texture.

Little Moons are free from artificial flavourings, colours and preservatives and are suitable for vegetarians.

Little Moons Mochi Balls

Brother and sister, Howard and Vivien, co-founded Little Moons in 2010. As children of parents who ran an Asian bakery, the pair maintained their strong passion for good food made with quality ingredients. Taking inspiration from a treat they sampled in Japan, Howard and Vivien took to the kitchen with an ice cream machine and the craft they learned from their parents and began to experiment with what would later become Little Moons.

Howard and Vivien were Initially focused on winning listings on the menus of popular London restaurants such as Nobu and Sushi Samba, as well as high-street favourites such as Yo! Sushi. However, in 2015, the pair launched the branded retail version of Little Moons. Today, the company produces 180 million mochi balls (and counting) a year and is sold in over 20 countries.

Little Moons ice cream mochi is available to purchase from Woolworths with an RRP of $10.00 per pack of six mochi balls.
