The Sunbury region’s cooling winds and mineral-rich soils give Marnong wines a lively freshness and complexity. Director of Wine Alex Beckett describes these new releases as crisp, aromatic and perfectly balanced, ideal for everything from casual picnics to celebratory dinners.
Each bottle reflects its own character:
- The Single Vineyard Chardonnay offers a creamy texture with crisp pear and apple flavours (RRP $40)
- Fiano - which is tipped to be a hot favourite this summer - brings a textural palate of ripe citrus, honeyed spice and a refreshing finish (RRP $35)
- The Blanc de Blancs is a traditional method sparkling with citrus and apple notes framed by brioche and taut acidity (RRP $80)
- From the Estate range, the Chardonnay shows pear, lemon and subtle spice; the Pinot Grigio brings nashi pear and a mineral edge; and the Rosé is dry and savoury with lifted guava, strawberries and cream on the nose (all RRP $25).
If you happen to be visiting Melbourne, you can sample the latest vintages at the cellar door (only an hour’s drive from Melbourne), while enjoying sweeping views of the working farm. There’s also the option to dine at La Vètta or Cucina 3064. For the designated driver, Caffè Vista offers a relaxed coffee spot with a view.
Alternatively, stay the night at one of the luxury lodgings at the winery.
The new releases are available nationally through independent retailers, at the cellar door or online, starting from RRP $25.
