Moonlight Cinema has unveiled its January program across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide, featuring a packed schedule of new releases, previews, and nostalgic crowd favourites.

The summer lineup includes major titles such as Wicked: For Good, Zootopia 2 and Anaconda, along with early screenings of Song Sung Blue, Hamnet, Primate and the global theatre hit Six the Musical. Families can enjoy reliable holiday winners too, with SpongeBob: Search for SquarePants and The Parent Trap in the mix.

This season also marks Moonlight’s 30th birthday, and audiences have been quietly shaping the program behind the scenes. Thousands of votes have already come in for The People’s Program, and early votes reveal that every city is leaning heavily towards Shrek. It’s comfortably the top pick nationwide, followed by The Greatest Showman.

Some local quirks are emerging: Melbourne and Adelaide are angling for a Mamma Mia sing-along, while Brisbane and Perth are rallying behind Dirty Dancing and Jurassic Park. The final tallies will return to screens in January, with Shrek, The Greatest Showman and The Parent Trap confirmed for the upcoming lineup.

January sessions also include a steady stream of new arrivals: The Housemaid, Roofman, Ella McCay, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, The Deb, The Choral, Avatar: Fire & Ash, Back to the Future and Rental Family. F1: The Movie will screen across four cities.

Each Moonlight location features on-site bars, food offerings and the famously plush bean beds. Gold Grass returns with prime viewing, express entry and food delivered straight to your seat. The Connoisseur Lounge offers reserved seating and gourmet ice cream. All cities are BYO (except Brisbane), and dogs are welcome (except Perth). Lyka is also back with on-site doggie bags, and the earliest purchases each night score a complimentary canine bean bed hire.

Moonlight Cinema presented by Youi runs through to April 2026, with January sessions on sale now.
