Australia’s favourite outdoor event, Moonlight Cinema, is returning for its 28th summer season with an exciting range of movies for audiences to enjoy under the open sky. The December lineup includes a mix of 2023 Box Office hits, beloved holiday films, and family-friendly flicks.
Bringing the cinematic experience to five locations around Australia, Moonlight Cinema will be located in picturesque parklands and outdoor venues in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide. The screenings will take place from the end of November 2023 to April 2024.
Movie enthusiasts can anticipate some of 2023’s prominent Hollywood releases, including The Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, Trolls Band Together, and romantic comedy, Anyone But You, featuring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell.
A special ‘Pink Party’ weekend event is scheduled for the screening of Barbie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, on 8 and 9 December. Attendees are encouraged to dress in shades of pink.
As the holiday spirit kicks in, the Christmas Favourites will showcase timeless Christmas movies such as Love Actually, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Die Hard, Home Alone, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and Elf.
The December program also offers exclusive preview screenings of the critically acclaimed May December, starring Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore, as well as the highly anticipated Next Goal Wins, starring Michael Fassbender and directed by Academy Award winner Taika Waititi.
Additionally, guests can enjoy a nostalgic trip to the 90s with screenings of Jurassic Park (1993) and The Mighty Ducks (1992) scheduled for this December.
Platinum Experience (Sydney and Melbourne locations only): The ultimate Moonlight Cinema experience, enjoy the evening sunset with an exclusive hamper featuring a range of classic picnic delicacies from Victoria’s High Country. Plus, enjoy waiter service to your deluxe double bean bed.
AAMI Gold Grass: For prime views and waiter service, you can’t go past AAMI Gold Grass, with a range of food and beverage options delivered straight to your bean bed.
Connoisseur Lounge: For the ice-cream lovers, tickets to the Connoisseur Lounge come with a bean bed in a reserved area and an indulgent Connoisseur Gourmet Ice Cream stick. Pick from a choice of decadent flavours including the new Golden Blondie flavour.
K9 Natural: As a beloved dog-friendly night out, this season you can hire a plush bean bed for the furriest member of your family, thanks to Moonlight’s dog partner, K9 Natural. Note: Moonlight Cinema is dog-friendly at all locations apart from Perth
Garnier Garden Cart: Moonlight Cinema guests will also be able to take home samples of some of Garnier’s most popular products at the Garnier Garden Cart. The leading natural beauty brand is this year’s official Beauty partner and will be onsite throughout the season at movie screenings across the country.
Official Aperol Spritz Bar (new this year): Moonlight welcomes the Italian spritz synonymous with summer providing freshly made Aperol Spritz all season long.
As always guests can also prepare their own picnics, bring along refreshments and enjoy one of Australia’s quintessential summer experiences. (Moonlight Cinema is BYO in all locations apart from Brisbane).
