In honour of World Rum Day (13 July), acclaimed rum producer Diplomático has teamed up with Sydney’s newest Latin American culinary hotspot, Morena, to introduce an exclusive menu, ‘A Taste of Venezuela.’

Crafted as a tribute to Diplomático rum’s rich heritage and to celebrate the first visit of Maestro Ronero (Rum Master) Nelson Hernandez to Australia, the ‘A Taste of Venezuela’ menu seamlessly marries traditional Venezuelan flavours with innovative cooking techniques. Delivered in Morena’s signature luxurious style, this special menu offers a unique take on contemporary Venezuelan cuisine, perfectly paired with Diplomático rum’s exceptional range.

“At Morena, we are dedicated to elevating the way Sydneysiders engage with the diverse cuisines from across Latin America. Given rum is an intrinsic part of Venezuelan culture and Diplomático rum represents the pinnacle of the country’s premium spirit offering, it felt like a natural fit to team up and offer adventurous Australian diners something unexpected,” says Morena’s Head Chef, Samuel Rivas.

Available for a limited time from 15 July to 12 August, the four-course menu features nine beautifully presented dishes. Highlights include the succulent MBS 5+ Black Opal wagyu girello, complemented by a jus enriched with the sweet, fruity vanilla notes of Diplomático rum’s Reserva Exclusiva blend. Another standout is the rum-infused free-range chicken accompanied by hallaquitas, a traditional Venezuelan dish similar to tamales. To cap off the meal, diners can enjoy a tropical twist on a classic Latin American flan, featuring coconut flavours and a rum-infused burnt caramel sauce.

In addition to the food menu, Morena’s expert mixologists have designed two exquisite Diplomático rum cocktails to enhance the dining experience. The Joropo Encantando, a refreshing aperitif, combines Diplomático Planas white rum with fermented pineapple tepache, cumin-spiced demerara sugar, and sherry. The Aurora Express blends Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva rum with Morena’s in-house coffee, spiced mandarin cardamom syrup, and orange bitters, culminating in a sophisticated finish.

‘A Taste of Venezuela’ is available for $150 per person. Beyond Morena, Diplomático rum enthusiasts can also enjoy a complimentary cocktail at 20 of Sydney’s finest bars throughout July, including the harborside Henry Deane and the underground Apollonia. This offer runs from 1 July to 31 July. Find out how to claim your complimentary cocktail here
