Nespresso Australia is championing the revival of the time-honoured Neapolitan coffee tradition, known as ‘Caffè sospeso’, by embracing it this International Women’s Day (IWD) through its popular Napoli coffee. The company is dedicating itself to paying it forward, with every sleeve of Napoli coffee individually sold on IWD – Nespresso Australia pledges to donate the equivalent value to the Australian social enterprise, Two Good Co. This initiative aims to empower women facing adversity, including homelessness, domestic violence, and complex trauma.

This gesture is a nod to the historic tradition believed to have originated in the cafes of Naples during the 1800s. Known as ‘suspended coffee’, the tradition involved fortunate customers ordering and covering the cost of two coffees: one for themselves and another for someone not as fortunate, who could claim it later.

“The ‘Caffè sospeso’ is one tradition worth holding onto,” said Monaghan. “However, most Aussies have never heard of it as it’s not widely advertised on coffee menus. This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #InspireInclusion, and I believe the Sospeso can help do that. So, whether you buy a sleeve of Napoli this International Women’s Day to support Two Good Co or simply order a suspended coffee at your local café, this is an easy way to spread some kindness and support,” says Mitch Monaghan, Nespresso Coffee Ambassador.

Two Good Co is a business for good. By crafting top-notch food and products, Two Good Co uplift, empower, and provide employment opportunities for women who have faced homelessness, domestic violence, and complex trauma. With a committed team, they strive to enable individuals to transform their lives by restoring their self-esteem and fostering independence.

The promotion runs online and in Nespresso boutiques on Friday 8 March. Pay it forward with a sleeve of Nespresso’s Napoli coffee on International Women’s Day.
