Looking for a quick escape during the Easter break? Then head to the Hunter Valley for some extra special Scarborough Wine Co. tastings, right in the heart of Wine Country.

Swirl, taste and bowl

Grab a group of friends or family together and book a round of Offshoot wine tasting, with a game of garden boules. Pop-up boules green (also known as pétanque), comes with wine carts, so the friendly cellar door staff can guide you through the wines while you play. You’ll taste a selection of 5-6 Scarborough Offshoot wines paired with a share plate of cheese and crackers.

It’s for adults only, but if you do have children, they’ll be well-entertained in the Kids Zone, which is right next to the boules green. (Lawn games, chalkboard, colouring kits and hula-hoops will keep them busy!)

  • $50 per person, 1-hour duration, a minimum of 4 people and a maximum of 6 people per green. Bookings essential
  • There are 4 boules greens available every weekend throughout April, as well as Easter Monday.

Together they have matched a vertical of current and back vintage Black Label Shiraz and ‘The Obsessive’ Shiraz wines from the cellar with four different decadent chocolate Bonbons. The experienced Scarborough Wine Co staff will guide guests through the characteristics of the wine as they have aged, and how they pair with the chocolate selected.

  • $35 per person, 30-minute duration, this is a seated tasting.
  • Available Good Friday to Easter Monday, please book in advance

Beyond the wine: Keepers of the flame premium wine tasting

More than a wine tasting, this immersive experience takes you beyond the wine and behind the scenes into the vineyard. You will see firsthand Scarborough Wine Co’s commitment to biodiversity and sustainability. Your personal guide will explain and highlight the many viticultural practices Scarborough has put in place to safeguard the land for future generations.

The tasting will focus on Keepers of the Flame, created and produced by the next generation of Scarborough winemakers: Jerome, Sally and Liz. This is the first time a vertical of these exceptional Hunter Valley wines has been made available to taste at the cellar door, following its launch late last year.

The first three vintages (2019, 2020, 2021) are Chardonnay and have been made from small parcels of fruit picked specifically for this passion project, each uniquely celebrating the vision and future of Scarborough Wine Co.

The wines are expertly paired with a gourmet cheese board designed to delight foodies and wine lovers alike.

  • $90 per person, 1.5-hour duration, Riedel varietal-specific glassware is used to enhance your tasting experience.
  • Available Thursday to Monday throughout April. At 10.30am and 2pm. Please book ahead, allowing 24 hours’ notice.

Classic Hunter Valley tastings

Scarborough will also be running its popular 30-minute and 1-hour tastings over the Easter holidays, each with three different wine ranges to choose from. The 1-hour tastings feature 100ml mini bottles, which are always a talking point. The personal bottles were an innovation created in times of COVID, but they are now a much-loved permanent fixture, exclusively at the cellar door. Discover for yourself why this tasting experience saw Scarborough Wine Co named 2021 Hunter Valley Cellar Door of the Year.
