Capella Sydney’s Auriga Spa is now accessible to the general public, providing various beauty and relaxation services for both residents of Sydney and those visiting the city. Previously, the spa and its top-quality wellness amenities were only open to guests staying at the hotel.

Operated as part of the Capella brand, the Auriga Spa is situated on the sixth floor of the former Department of Education, heritage-listed building. The spa includes well-designed treatment rooms, as well as steam and sauna facilities, experiential showers, and an ice fountain. These amenities are available for use by day guests up to 30 minutes before their scheduled Auriga Spa appointment.

Well-known at Capella’s other global sites, Auriga Spa provides lavish face and body treatments, presenting high-quality products linked to the country where the establishment is situated. Consistent with this philosophy, Capella Sydney’s spa presents a specialised collection of skincare products created by Byron Bay brand Synthesis Organics.

The treatment menu includes ‘Wellness Journeys’ that connect with the land, such as the Connect to Country treatment, which uses stones collected from distant locations with permission from Indigenous Elders. There are also Body Alchemy packages with lavish exfoliation, detoxifying masks, and enzyme peel wraps. The Facial Alchemy treatments aim to restore balance, transform, and replenish the skin with valuable oils and bioactive ingredients, accompanied by LED light therapy.

The spa has a strong connection with the century-old sandstone building it’s housed in. BAR Studio and Make Architects oversaw the architecture and interior design, with input from heritage experts Urbis. Notably, three of the four treatment rooms sit beneath restored “heritage lanterns,” featuring contemporary designs and reclaimed timber flooring to preserve the historical ambiance.
