The Other Art Fair is returning to Sydney in early October, ready to disrupt the conventional art world once again. If you're used to the quiet contemplation of traditional galleries, expect something different here. The Other Art Fair, presented by Saatchi Art is a celebration of creativity in all its raw, bold, and unfiltered forms. But what makes this one so special is that it marks the 100th global edition of The Other Art Fair.
Interactive artwork to commemorate 100th fair
To commemorate its 100th global edition, The Other Art Fair has commissioned renowned illustrator and cartoonist John Paine to create an interactive mural of 100 unique art-related drawings. Visitors will have the chance to immerse themselves in the process by helping to bring these artworks to life. You could give Frida Kahlo blue hair or make a certain duct-taped banana the perfect shade of yellow. It’s art as play, where your creative choices directly influence the final outcome.

At the end of the fair, the fully-coloured mural will be a symbol of collective creativity. It’s an opportunity for attendees to not just view art but to be an active participant in it—a perfect metaphor for The Other Art Fair itself, where the audience and the artist are partners in the creative process.

Meet the Artists: Diverse, Bold, and Boundless
With over 100 artists exhibiting, there’s no shortage of talent on display, each with a unique story and style. Here’s a snapshot of just a few standout participants:
Michael Wallner, a seasoned digital artist from the UK, brings his cityscapes to life through a stunning interplay of shapes, outlines, and colours. After two decades in television, Wallner now uses his art to celebrate the architecture of global cities, presenting familiar urban scenes in entirely fresh and imaginative ways.
Sydney-based George Hall tells an entirely different story through his vibrant multimedia works. As a proud member of the queer community, Hall’s art explores themes of identity, progress, and the ongoing journey toward equality. His work is rich with colour, joy, and a powerful message about how far we’ve come and the work still left to do.
Meanwhile, Californian self-taught artist Havilah Albrego blends art and science in a unique way. A scuba diver and naturalist, Albrego’s tranquil acrylic paintings of marine life encourage us to reconnect with nature and reflect on humanity’s impact on the ocean. Her evocative, underwater-inspired works have made waves in the U.S. and now land in Australia for the first time.
Miriam Cabello, a Chilean-Australian interdisciplinary artist based in Sydney, brings a unique exploration of heroism to her mixed-media work. By portraying Olympic athletes and cultural icons, Cabello delves into what it means to be a modern-day hero, using layered techniques to capture both the physical and emotional strength of her subjects.
