About National Pies

The Gough family has crafted authentic, nourishing baked goods in Hobart, Tasmania, since 1942 when apprentice butcher Alfred Gough did a deal with the neighbouring bakery to use their oven in the afternoons to make beef pies for the crowds attending the National Theatre. Alfred’s pies become famous and National Pies was born. Now, 80 years and two generations later, National Pies has focussed on what made the company a Tassie icon: baking for all to enjoy.
