As the winter chill sets in, the heart of Lot 101 in Megalong will come alive with warmth and the tantalising aromas of a shared-style winter feast crafted by the renowned head chef, Colin Barker. Set against the cosy backdrop of a crackling fire, this feast will showcase the finest locally farmed and sourced ingredients from Lot 101 and its neighbouring properties.

The evening begins with a toast of French champagne, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. Though shrouded in mystery until the day of the event, each dish on the menu promises to highlight the rich bounty of local produce, expertly paired with regional wines to enhance every flavour.

Post-dessert, the evening’s enchantment continues with cocktails served in the garden. Guests are invited to meander through the verdant paths, discovering a mobile bar stocked with ingredients harvested mere steps away. This unique touch not only celebrates the freshness of the ingredients but also adds an element of exploration and delight.

While the full menu remains a surprise, Colin and his team have hinted at some mouth-watering possibilities:

  • Freshly grown vegetables, straight from the bespoke ‘Edible Garden’
  • ‘Valley Heritage Pig Terrine’ accompanied by home-pickled vegetables
  • Lot 101-farmed ‘Primal Cuts’ slow-roasted over fire pits

The wine selection is equally impressive, featuring some of NSW’s most celebrated wineries:

  • Robert Stein 3rd Gen Organic Chardonnay from Mudgee
  • Rowlee Fumé Blanc from Orange
  • Renzaglia Tempranillo from O’Connell
  • Lark Hill Pinot Noir from the Canberra District

Colin – who has garnered a loyal following from his tenure at the Boathouse Blackwattle Bay – emphasises that the magic of this feast lies in its warm, casual atmosphere, the delectable local fare, and the celebration of the valley in the winter season.

“This feast will feel like a fresh take on a medieval gathering. Plentiful, delicious food and wine, shared with friends around a crackling fire, in one of the state’s most beautiful natural environments.”
