Yo-Chi has dropped a new flavour set to turn heads: Ube. The vibrant purple yam, cherished in the Philippines, will make its way into Yo-Chi stores nationwide from 16 October, and it’s already sparking curiosity.
Ube’s (pronounced oo-beh) natural hue comes from anthocyanins, the same antioxidants that give blueberries their deep colour. The flavour itself sits somewhere between vanilla and pistachio, with a subtle nuttiness and earthy sweetness.

Yo-Chi’s take on Ube captures that same premium smoothness the brand is known for, with a playful side that invites creativity. It pairs beautifully with coconut flakes for a tropical edge, or you can lean into decadence with white chocolate or caramel drizzle. For something textural, banana and mochi make the perfect match.

The flavour is gluten-friendly (though not dairy-free) and is available for a limited time only, landing just as fresh blueberries return to Yo-Chi’s toppings bars - a coincidence that feels perfectly timed.
Yo-Chi’s Brand Director, Oliver Allis, said the team couldn’t resist bringing this global favourite to local fans, noting that while it took some convincing to introduce what’s technically a yam, it was worth it for the chance to surprise and delight.
With its rich cultural roots and striking good looks, Ube has become a worldwide dessert sensation — and now, thanks to Yo-Chi, Aussies can get their hands on this purple perfection for a limited time.
